Dlg4 Shine Foundation

The DLG4 SHINE Foundation is dedicated to accelerating research, awareness, and support for individuals affected by SHINE Syndrome—a rare neurodevelopmental disorder caused by mutations in the DLG4 gene, which encodes the critical synaptic protein PSD-95. PSD-95 plays a central role in brain connectivity and function. Disruption of this protein leads to profound developmental challenges, yet its mechanisms remain underexplored. We believe that understanding PSD-95 is not only key to unlocking SHINE Syndrome—it may also illuminate pathways relevant to broader neurological and psychiatric conditions. Our mission is threefold: • Advance PSD-95 research through strategic funding and scientific collaboration • Build a connected community of families, clinicians, and researchers • Raise awareness of SHINE Syndrome and the urgent need for targeted therapies We actively seek partnerships with health-focused organizations, academic institutions, and biotech innovators to co-fund research initiatives and explore therapeutic development.
