Dn Dawahnigeria

This NOT-FOR-PROFIT initiative all started in 2009. A good number of young minds like us who spent part of the decade before learning Islam on campus got exposed to software like Alim and a host of others. We were amazed by the huge amount of dawah resources on the Internet. Of particular emphasis are the thousands of audio lectures of people like Shaykh Jamaldeen Zarabozo, Hakeem Quick, Bilal Phillips etc and numerous Quran reciters. While we enjoyed their works, we noticed that something was missing, conspicuously missing. There was near-zero representation of our own scholars who speak our language and understand our indigenous issues. Coupled with the fact that Internet access in Nigeria at that time had started opening up and more people were getting good access. We were determined to find out why. It did not take long for us to realize that despite the huge Islamic intellectualism in Nigeria, there was little documentation and information technology was largely unused in the dissemination of dawah. After lots of preliminary groundwork, dawahnigeria.com, our first major project, was launched in 2009. The goal was to collaborate deeply with Nigerian resource persons to improve the documentation of their programs and then leverage on information technology to disseminate to the world.
