The Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, was founded in the year 2004 in order to nurture and develop the fledgling MBA program which had been started in August 2001. DoMS IIT Madras has been Ranked among Top 10 B Schools India in NIRF 2022 Rankings. IIT Madras was the first IIT to open its doors of Management Studies to graduates from all disciplines. Well-recognized for the rigor and pedigree of its academic programs, the department has 24 full-time faculty members drawn from a variety of functional areas of management including Business Strategy, Finance, General Management, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, Marketing and Operations Management. They are also engaged in (Sponsored) Research, Consulting, and Executive Development Programs, among others. The flagship MBA program offered is a 2-year, full-time, residential program designed to offer the unique IIT advantage to students of business management. IIT Madras' strong network across business and industries, equips students with management principles, strategic modelling, actual practice, and immense industry exposure that caters to a complete learning curve. The student exchange programs with foreign universities offered by DoMS, helps its students get a truly global outlook. The "Centre for Innovation (CFI)" at IIT Madras fosters the development of the institution's entrepreneurial ecosystem by giving student innovators a platform to move from "design" to "product."
