We are building a web3 platform for musicians. DoorJam provides private spaces for musicians to be the sole owner of their business activity. Activities such as releasing tracks and albums, making money off of the music creation process and releases, communicating with fans, collaborating with bandmates and supporters in real-time, planning and executing tours and other live events, etc. One problem today lies in the fact that without a producer, distributor and (at the very least) a digital streaming platform, musicians can’t get their music out to the public. Each of these parties mentioned above are what we’ll call “middlemen”. Middlemen certainly do provide a service for the musicians but they also take a disproportionate cut of the musician’s revenue - leaving 90% of musicians with less than what’s needed to be fully focused on creative life. Our approach is different because a) we empower artists to own their business and its process end to end (we also help guide and mentor those who find this new freedom overwhelming). And b) our business model allows artists to keep 100% of the revenue they make off of our platform. In addition, we provide opportunities for artists to bring in monthly revenue through supporter (fan) subscriptions. Our company makes its money off of artist, fan and supporter transactions on the platform (track releases, live broadcasts, etc) The time is ripe for this solution which leverages blockchain technology and the web3 ethos to bring transparency and access to revenue to all musicians and community members who participate. We see many are interested in these emerging technologies but most see the use cases and assets as somewhat nebulous. With DoorJam, we are excited to display real life benefits for blockchain technology.
