Downeast Lng

Downeast LNG was originally proposed in 2004 as a LNG import facility serving the New England and Boston market. The project completed FERC permitting under with the successful issuance of a Final EIS. The project generated considerable political support at the local, state and federal levels. Due to changing market conditions the project was redesigned to include LNG liquefaction capacity with a proposed 4 million ton export capacity. The project used Marcellus shale gas to develop a mid-scale LNG solution for surplus northeast gas. It utilized Air Products CSMR technology and full containment storage tanks. CH-IV was the owner's engineer and Chicago Bridge & Iron was the EPC. The project was mothballed due to market conditions.
