Duke Orthopaedic Surgery

We are one of the largest academic orthopaedic departments in the United States. According to U.S. News and World Report rankings, we are the highest ranked for orthopaedics in the Southeast and the only hospital ranked in the top 50 in North Carolina. Our three Duke hospitals are ranked in the top five in the state for orthopaedics. In 2022, we treated patients in our clinics and performed over procedures. Our clinical faculty is organized across eight surgical subspecialties: Adult Reconstruction, Foot and Ankle, Hand and Upper Extremity, Oncology, Pediatrics, Spine, Sports Medicine, and Trauma/Hip Preservation. For over 90 years, the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University has attracted the best and brightest physicians, researchers, residents, fellows, and trainees to deliver world-class care, education, and research.
