Dust Busters Africa

Dust Busters (Pty) Ltd was founded by Paballo Mokoqo, an innovative enterprising young African woman who seeks to create solutions for some of the longstanding developmental challenges of her country. It was established in 2013 in a bid to professionalize cleaning industry and to economically empower impoverished women in Lesotho. The latter is particularly important as 62% of women are unemployed nationally – a bleak picture for a country where 36% of households are women-headed. Built with zero external funding, Dust Busters is now a profitable and financially sustainable cleaning company, which has been able to substantially grow its clientele from privately owned residential properties to a broad range of commercial clients, creating job opportunities for over twenty (20) women and men who were either previously unemployed or underemployed. As a result of the demonstrated commitment to positively impacting lives of Basotho, Dust Busters was awarded Best Social Impact Startup by Southern Africa Start-up Awards in 2018.
