The E-Commerce Tax Unit | Egyptian Tax Authority Established in 2021, the E-Commerce Tax Unit at the Egyptian Tax Authority specializes in the taxation of e-commerce businesses and content creators operating in Egypt’s growing digital economy. The Unit has launched several key initiatives, including comprehensive guides for e-commerce operators, content creators, and VAT compliance for non-resident digital service providers, it has also implemented the API Verification System for non-resident suppliers and introduced the Unique Identification Number (UIN) for resident taxpayers registering on non-resident platforms. Committed to continuous learning and global cooperation, the Unit actively engages in international knowledge exchange with countries such as Japan, India, and Austria. It participated in Cairo ICT 2024, showcasing innovative digital tax solutions, and organized the “Role of Women in Supporting the Economy” conference in 2022 to promote women’s empowerment in the workforce. Backed by a skilled multidisciplinary team specializing in taxation, data analysis, media, and digital platforms, the Unit continues to drive innovation, transparency, and tax awareness across Egypt’s digital economy.
