Earthchildren

Worldwide, one quarter of all refugees are reported to be living in managed refugee camps, and an estimated 42% of them are children. In these camps, the circumstances are dire due to a lack of education, sanitation, clean drinking water, safe housing, and job opportunities. Additionally, disease and hunger are pervasive, and natural disasters strike regularly. Women and children are extremely vulnerable to abduction, trafficking, sexual and physical violence, and slavery. EarthChildren is an international charitable organization established by a dedicated team of humanitarians of diverse backgrounds in 2020 in response to an identified global need and gap in the provision of holistic, balanced, and sustainable resources and services to orphaned children and vulnerable women in impoverished communities. EarthChildren’s core focus is on providing these services to women and orphaned children in refugee camps where resources and services are starkly lacking, with the foundational aim of removing these vulnerable people from such environments. EarthChildren takes a unique perspective on pronounced generational and cultural limitations. Each program is developed to build individual and collective capacity while addressing core underlying issues including starvation, slavery, sex trafficking, disease, poverty, and resource depletion. We first launched in the world's largest refugee camp in Bangladesh. Our lead Project Bright Light Education program aims to uplift and support the Rohingya community by creating sustainable, high-quality learning centers for orphaned girls in the Bangladesh refugee camps. This program includes education, food and clean water, and health care. Today EarthChildren supports 63 orphaned girls ages 5 to 17 in this program.
