They tend to see it in terms of jargon & spreadsheets, a stressful chore to be put off, something they’re not confident in (like maths at school)… An estimated 85% of people on Self-Assessment don't use accountants/bookkeepers or “beautiful accounting software”, and those who do rarely get any Intell from them… There are challenges with Cost of Living, Pensions & Savings, student loans, property ladder, etc. – and soon HMRC’s Making Tax Digital for anyone on Self-Assessment… Our extensive User Research shows people are crying out for digital tools to help them confidently see where they are and look ahead with clear sight to make informed decisions… So, we’re developing a Fit-for-Purpose solution, in particular for anyone on Self-Assessment and ultimately for “Digital Natives” around the world… We believe a fresh approach should be: 1. simple, accessible, plain “Fin-glish” 2. holistic (covering personal as well as business,#ownallyourfinances) 3. aimed at everyone: neuro-diverse, young people, global users 4. multimodal/VARK: Visual, Auditory, Reading, Kinaesthetic 5. reward-led & forward-focused 6. able to integrate with Open Banking/Finance and existing softwares We would love to see people play with figures in a completely different environment such as a Music Studio or even 3-D Augmented Reality.
