Ecobarter

Ecobarter is a sustainable waste management and technology development company. We have built a uniquely scalable, hyperlocal, technology-enabled ecosystem that turns waste, one of Africa’s biggest urban challenges, into multiple streams of social, economic, and environmental value. We build innovative tech and touch systems, including Africa's first-ever locally manufactured reverse vending machines to collect, tokenise and transform everyday waste materials into new high-value, long-lasting consumer and industrial products. While technology development and recovery are our most consumer-facing operations, beyond recovery, we work with clusters of local community women & youths as "production partners" to convert accumulated plastic wastes, especially those hard-to-recycle, into fabrics for new lifestyle products like bags, shoes and clothing through our WREP by Ecobarter brand. Organic wastes, on the other hand are transformed into clean cooking gas and composts to power African lives through Ecobarter Energy. This work enables typically underserved households to build back their lives better using waste as a resource. The ecobarter company is made up of; Ecobarter Technology, Ecobarter Recovery, WREP by Ecobarter, Ecobarter Energy. Our ambitious goal is to eliminate wastes and poverty in Africa through recycling.
