Despite being situated in one of the most extensive desert and arid regions on the planet, Egypt was home to one of the most brilliant, affluent, and enduring civilizations of antiquity, and this achievement was made possible by the Nile River. As an inexhaustible source of resources, the Nile generously provided the water and food necessary for the sustenance of the Egyptians, as well as for all the peoples who had inhabited and settled along these banks for over years. Its waters served as the primary means of transportation for people and goods throughout the region. As we journey down the Nile, we will be awed by the grand constructions that continue to exude their magnificence even today, after more than 30 centuries.
