Egypt Foundation For Integrated Development Elnidaa

Egypt Foundation for Integrated Development (El Nidaa) was established in 2016 as a non-profit foundation to operate in parallel to the Egypt Network for Integrated Development (ENID) initiative to ensure the sustainability and continuity of its interventions. ENID was conceived as a comprehensive five-year initiative that started in April 2012 as an output under a project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation. It was extended into a second five-year period (2017-2021), and more recently a third five-year period (2022-2026) ensuring that the project continued to build on its best practice models and success stories. In line with national and international priorities under Egypt Vision 2030 and UN SDGs; ENID/El Nidaa's main aim is to promote the socio-economic empowerment of marginalized women and youth in Rural Upper Egypt through skill formation for employability and job creation. ENID/El Nidaa follows an Area-based Integrated development model, which focuses on sustainability, by creating synergies between various interventions under four different programs; Program A: Upgrading Basic Service, Program B: Promoting MSMEs and Entrepreneurship, Program C: Sustainable Agricultural Development, and Program D: Knowledge Dissemination and Knowledge Hub. Over the past decade, ENID/El Nidaa worked in more than 70 villages in Upper Egypt including Qena, Luxor, Sohag, El Minya, and most recently El Fayoum Governorates and has benefited 25,828 beneficiaries amongst women and youth, and created more than job opportunities. It has also partnered with over 70 local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to promote ownership and community participation among rural communities. Whilst implementing its integrated development model, ENID/El Nidaa has also worked on reviving 26 Egyptian handicrafts which were near extinction to preserve Egypt's cultural heritage.
