Ehsaas Foundation

Ehsaas Foundation School in Golra Sharif, Islamabad, is a bi-lingual (Urdu/English) learning centre for over 600 underprivileged children in the surrounding katchi abadi area. The students range in ages from 5 – 15, and are taught by well trained teachers. Many Ehsaas students are provided free schooling and uniforms, since many cannot afford to pay. We have just been approved by the City's Educational Authorities to become Ehsaas Foundation College as of November 2016. Ehsaas Foundation founded in 1998 has been Officially registered since 18th March 2006 under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance 1961. Mrs. Rifat Shaukat began running Ehsaas Foundation School by starting with just a handful of children that she discovered were picking trash in the streets. Now having teaching experience since five decades in Pakistan and the United Kingdom she decided to try and turn around the lives of some impoverished children. Mrs. Rifat Shaukat’s career began starting at Azim Garrison, Lahore teaching science and then teaching at various schools in London, England for 25 years and then returning to Pakistan and establishing Ehsaas Foundation School. After the earthquake of 2005 Ehsaas Foundation received awards from the Capital Development Authority for its disaster relief victims services in the Tent Villages of Sector H Islamabad Headed by Mr. Kamran Lashari. In 2010 Ehsaas Foundation also provided flood relief delivery & distribution services in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa (Nowshera Charsadda and Peshawar) within it’s limited capacity. Ehsaas Foundation also received a letter of Appreciation from the Pakistan Army Unit at Garhi Habibullah regarding Relief Goods Deliveries & Distribution for Earthquake 2005. Ehsaas is also Home for Earthquake 2005 survivor ladies who live, study & work here in Ehsaas Village a wheelchair accessible community. We aim to create a self sustained community culture whereby people help themselves and each other.
