Laurie has been in the eldercare field for 24 years, and received her nursing home administrator and residential care facility for the elderly certifications in 1996. Prior educational background included undergraduate work at two campuses of the State University of New York. In Farmingdale, NY Laurie received her Associate of Art degree in Liberal Arts and in Albany, NY a Bachelor of Art degree in History and Philosophy was obtained. Additional schooling at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY gave Laurie practical training in the Lawyer’s Assistance field. Her early work in estate planning with a Wall Street law firm gave Laurie an appreciation for the fine art of interpersonal communication and active listening which have been at the core of her work with clients throughout her career. Values based on empathy for the human condition coupled with a solutions driven approach have fostered Laurie’s natural leadership prowess. Administrative positions in several continuing care retirement communities have further developed her expertise in supervising complicated casework while ensuring adherence to a mission and margin driven philosophy. Laurie enjoys working with clients and staff to create the best possible outcomes and enhance quality of life. The pursuit of community service & outreach are paramount to Laurie’s interest in making a contribution and having a broader positive impact. Laurie says she thinks of life in terms of legacy which is an idea that comes from her work with elderly persons. She comments that legacy is something not often thought about until one has reached the golden years. Every day every person has the opportunity to take action that builds upon one’s legacy. Laurie’s clients are well served due to her appreciation of the importance of personal legacy to a life well lived. Helping others realize that potential is key to Laurie’s service and management style providing a great foundation for a meaningful working relationship.
