Elected Body

ATSIEB is a group of 7 elected members, supported by a small secretariat. We’re Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living locally, with jobs and knowledge in different areas of public policy. As your elected body, we represent your needs and views to local government. This account shares news and information relevant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the ACT. Together, we are the strong, respected and democratically elected voice to government, helping create policies and programs that improve equity, inspire reconciliation and lift our community. We are a unique and innovative model for self-determination. We were established under the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body ACT 2008, and elections happen through the ACT Electoral Commission every 3 years.
