Ellis County Museum
From Bessie Coleman, the first black woman to become a licensed pilot in the world, to baseball Hall of Fame legend Paul Richards, the Ellis County Museum is committed to preserving the history of Ellis County and bringing it to life for all ages. Housed in the oldest building on the Waxahachie square, the museum serves as a hub for the history of Ellis County, from research and archive assistance to exhibits, speakers, school programs, and interactive educational opportunities. The museum is currently undergoing a $2.8 million dollar renovation, including the opening of a research library, restoration of rental offices, and the historic third floor event rental spaces "The Assembly Hall" & "The Lecture Hall" with what may be the best views overlooking historic downtown Waxahachie.
