Emerge Vermont

Emerge Vermont is changing the face of Vermont politics by identifying, training and encouraging Democratic women to run for office, get elected, and to seek higher office. Our intensive, cohort based, 70+ hour training program is unique. As the number of elected Democratic women remains flat or even declines, the need for our work is growing. In the 230 years since its statehood, Vermont has never elected a women to the U.S. House of Representatives, or to the U.S. Senate, and only 1 woman has served as Governor of Vermont. Of 180 State Legislators, only 42% are women. A pool of highly qualified Democratic candidates is being left untapped. Too often, women do not see themselves running for office—they assume they aren’t experienced enough or they don’t know where to begin. Emerge Vermont is changing that! Emerge Vermont is part of a national network currently working in 27 states. We are dedicated to changing the face of representation at every level of government.
