Enabling Archeologie

Enabling archaeology is an international collaboration of archaeologists, professionals and volunteers who work together to make archaeology accessible for as large an audience as possible (within branch, education and outreach to public). The aim is to improve diversity and inclusivity by raising awareness, sharing experiences and providing knowledge. Archaeology belongs to everyone. Diversity needs to be the starting point for participating in archaeology both by a much broader public and the archaeologists themselves. Additionally, archaeology and heritage play a role in the Sustainable Development Goals. Formulated by the UN, these global ambitions are set to ensure sustainable development. By working on these objectives, archaeology can contribute to the well-being of society. However, this requires a coorporation between archaeology and the public. To ensure that this happens, it is important to make archaeology and heritage both accessible and engaging. Our aim can be described in these three short sentences. Enabling Archeology wants to- Raise awareness of inaccessibility and need for diversity within archaeology and heritage- Advocate diversity within the public, education and the workfield- Help spread information on how to successfully make archaeology and heritage accessible and more diverse.
