Enchill Energy

In 2014 a group of engineers and technicians envisioned a Research/Technology Centre whose primary goal was to identify and innovate appropriate renewable energy solutions to solve some of the nation’s teething energy problems. An innovation team was set up. By December 2014, the ALMS (Automatic load management system) was created. Over 50pieces of the hardware was produced and sold within a few months. The success of the ALMS was to influence future innovations. In 2015, the team began experimentations on solar water heating, solar cooking, biogas and thermal energy storage. Varying degrees of success was recorded. In Q1 2016, the innovation team decided to focus on air-conditioning (as cooling is required all year round in western African countries), water heating and cooling solutions. By Mid 2017, various models of the solutions were created and tested In 2018, the lead Technologist took an early exit from Shell to focus more on the development of these promising technologies. A sample solution was installed in the Chief Technologist’s home to monitor performance. Major breakthroughs were achieved in thermal energy storage, which continued refinement all through 2018/2019. In 2019, the team acquired trademark certification for all the thermal storage cooling, heating and ventilation solutions. The trademark was ENVAC. Later in 2019, Enchill Nigeria Ltd was registered to produce and market all innovative solutions produced by the team. Following the performance in the chief technologist’s home, the team commenced marketing of the solution to selected customers. A chilled water solution was installed in an office and another chilled water solution was installed at Elenlewo in Rivers State. To further test the viability of the thermal storage and nature cooling solutions, additional 19units were produced and installed. Field performance has been impressive as we have continued to respond to and take into account feedback from the existing users.
