Encorra

Encorra Ltd is a small engineering business based in the Welsh Borders. It has developed an innovative machine for making corrugated cardboard on demand. Corrugate is currently manufactured in huge industrial plants; by contrast, the Encorra machine is a fraction of the size. Compact enough to fit alongside other packaging equipment, it allows box and carton manufacturers to make corrugated cardboard directly from rolls of paper, in house, as and when required, making them much more responsive to changing demand. With the addition of a rotary die-cutter, users of the Encorra machine will be able to feed paper in at one end and receive corrugated boxes at the other. Encorra’s innovative cold process has two further advantages: it can create board with coatings such as waterproofing or metallisation without the need for an additional process, and it also has a much smaller carbon footprint than the conventional method for manufacturing corrugated board.
