The Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is home to some of the nation's most talented students. Ranked #5 in undergraduate engineering by U.S. News & World Report (September 2024), Illinois Grainger Engineering consistently produces top-tier computing and engineering graduates. City Scholars harnesses this exceptional talent to strengthen Chicago’s tech pipeline. Our program offers students from the Siebel School of Computing and Data Science and the Electrical & Computer Engineering department a unique opportunity: a semester-long, part-time internship combined with a full-time course load, all while living, learning, and interning in Chicago. Students gain invaluable experience through paid internships, immerse themselves in Chicago’s dynamic tech community, and continue their academic progress toward graduation.
