Envision Kindness

Envision Kindness is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to enhance how people feel and treat each other in high stress environments. We use crowd-sourced images of acts of kindness and caring that activate a highly desirable neuropsychology that reduces stress, uplifts viewers, and fosters more kindness and generosity. Stress rapidly melts and people are more generous. What is so great about this approach is that it needs no training and works within 2 minutes. We focus the application of our work in healthcare. We want to help patients, providers, and staff have a better experience. This better experience will then translate to better outcomes for patients and improved engagement (less burnout) for providers and staff. To accomplish this, we craft the still images into themed short form videos that are displayed in waiting areas, hallways, cafeterias, and other settings. We complement the images with other original content" quotes, concepts (gratitude, empathy, forgiveness), humor, and mindfulness. Called EnSpire, our media works really well within 2 minutes to reduce stress, irritation and anxiety and increase happiness, calm, gratitude, and feeling connected to others. People treat each other better-there are substantial and measurable increases in kindness. Beyond how they immediately feel, EnSpire also affects how patients rate their satisfaction with care in a level 1 trauma ED (Press Ganey top box scores). Thousands of people are seeing EnSpire everyday. There is a lot of science behind our work. Our ultimate goal? To help folks have a better care experience. And in addition to the media we have other tools that people can use. Kindness isn't just being nice; it's science.
