Epic-Cure Inc. was founded in 2018 in response to the staggering amount of food waste in our country. Our Mission: Eliminate food waste and hunger through food rescue and distribution and engage seniors and other volunteers to teach veterans, active military personnel, and middle school students at Title-1 schools to safely prepare meals, providing them with practical life skills and self-confidence from real achievement, fostering self-reliance. We are volunteers with deep roots in Saint Johns and Putnam counties (FL) and are committed to nourish our planet and our community, providing good food to those in need, and engendering an environment of accomplishment and success necessary to break the cycles of poverty and food insecurity. What we do Food Rescue: We collect or accept donated food from the USDA, Feeding Northeast Florida, grocery store, logistics and trucking companies, food distributors, farms, and food banks. Epic-Cure currently processes approximately pounds of food monthly. By keeping food out of landfills, we reduce harmful methane gas emissions, fostering a more healthy planet. Food Distribution: We distribute food to more than 2,200 food insecure families through 20+ mobile food distributions throughout NE Florida daily. Cooking Classes: Engage Senior volunteers to work with school aged children, teaching them cooking skills to build their resumes and helping them feed their families, fostering self reliance and improving the health and well being of our community's senior citizens. Emergency Response: As a Preferred Partner of FEMA, and as an Emergency Responder for the Feeding America network, Epic-Cure responds to the need of the NE Florida community in the wake of natural disasters in the community. Food as Medicine: Epic-Cure regularly hosts medical professionals at its food distributions to screen the most vulnerable for health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and other chronic conditions.
