EPIC5: Where Unforgettable Journeys Transform Lives. At EPIC5, our global reach is grounded in the spirit of ohana—Hawaiian for "family." This sense of belonging extends beyond our team to include athletes, crews, volunteers, and all those who join our extraordinary journeys. Together, we create a global community bound by adventure, endurance, and personal transformation. Founded in 2010 by Jason Lester, a 2009 ESPY Award winner, and endurance legend Rich Roll, EPIC5 began with an audacious challenge: to complete five 140.6 mi / 226.3 km triathlons on each of the five Hawaiian Islands in five consecutive days. Joined by our current COO Rebecca Morgan, the trio tackled this feat with minimal support. Despite bike mechanical delays that extended the challenge to seven days, this proof-of-concept event became the very soul of EPIC5—and its impact continues to influence every race we organize. In April 2025, the event was acquired by Jason Sissel, a renowned ultra-distance athlete, adventurer, and philanthropist. Jason’s passion for endurance sports, combined with his dedication to giving back and inspiring others, fuels EPIC5's ongoing mission. Under his leadership, we are committed to expanding EPIC5 into a global leader in ultra-endurance adventures, delivering transformative experiences in some of the world’s most breathtaking settings. Our events provide athletes, crews, volunteers, and staff the opportunity to grow spiritually, mentally, and physically—pushing the limits of human potential.
