Equilore

At Equilore, our team provides a professional psychology service with a twist. Instead of room-based therapy, we work outdoors together with a small herd of horses. Animal assisted therapy is great for improving communication skills, social skills, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem solving, relationship and attitude issues. This is because the horse is a big and imposing animal who responds mainly through non-verbal communication, like body language. This means that equine therapy is a form of experiential learning rather then having to verbalise your difficulties. Through animal assisted therapy people can experience growth and enhance their self-awareness, confidence, emotional well being and acquire new skills. Equilore was founded in 2017 by Dr. Loes Koorenhof (MSc, CPsychol.), a LEAP registered professional with more than 10 years of work experience in the field of (neuro-) psychology. The vision was to support people with their mental health who have got stuck in the traditional system of support. Equilore became a registered charity in 2020 (charity number 1190998) offering Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) and we have grown in our service provision ever since. Equilore is based on the Oxfordshire / Northamptonshire border where we provide psychotherapy, counselling and coaching in the form of equine facilitated learning (EFL) and psychotherapy (EFP) to young people and adults. Sessions can be run individually or in small groups.
