Since 1969, and over the last 50 years, Essar has also been dedicated to developing the core sectors of the Indian economy through Greenfield and Brownfield investments. Essar promoters took a conscious decision to invest in these sectors and make India self-sufficient. They pioneered the private sector's entry into capital intensive businesses, like Steel, Oil & Gas, Ports and Power, and despite overwhelming odds, persisted to complete their committed investments. Essar is one of the earliest and largest contributors to the Make in India, as well as Skill India, initiatives of the government. Not only has it created world-class assets, but also nurtured a skilled workforce with the ability to operate these assets.
