Essential Home OTCs was founded by a pharmacy student to help consumers understand and apply correct treatments for their cough, cold, flu, and allergy symptoms with SymptomPak®. SymptomPak® is a patent pending solution that provides the safest and most effective method for treating cold and flu symptoms. SymptomPak® contains five different “single-ingredient” medications that can be used individually or combined to create over 20 FDA approved treatment combinations. These same five ingredients are the primary medications found in over-the-counter (OTC) cold, cough, and flu products, but they are typically blended into multi-symptom products. However, pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and informed consumers recognize that these multi-symptom products often contain either too many, not enough, or the wrong active ingredients to treat an individual’s specific symptoms. SymptomPak® includes an analgesic (acetaminophen), a decongestant (phenylephrine), an antitussive (dextromethorphan), an expectorant (guaifenesin), and an antihistamine (chlorpheniramine). The SymptomPak® kit educates consumers with a robust system that includes color-coded charts and labels, support materials, and a pocket-sized pill box, all of which assist the consumer to treat their symptoms accurately and conveniently. Even the tablets are color-coded to match the labels and symptom chart. By abandoning the one-size-fits-all approach of multi-symptom products, SymptomPak® eliminates the unwanted and potentially harmful side effects of being overmedicated. The SymptomPak® solution allows consumers to treat their cold, cough or flu by selecting one or more of the five symptom-specific medicines that correspond to their particular symptoms. Furthermore, SymptomPak® enables consumers to adjust doses of each ingredient to reflect the severity of each symptom, their age, the current medications used and to vary ingredients as the symptoms of their cold or flu episode evolve.
