Essential Need

Essential Need is an Australian-registered charity and global education-to-impact platform advancing UN Sustainable Development Goal Target 6.1: universal access to safe and affordable drinking water by 2030. We work at the intersection of education, data, and real-world solutions—empowering students, educators, governments, and partners to understand water inequality, engage with credible data, and contribute to practical, scalable outcomes. Our work includes: Curriculum-aligned high school programs and enrichment sessions, helping students explore global water challenges through systems thinking and real data Interactive tools such as the World Water Map and Target 6.1 Map, translating complex UN and WHO/UNICEF data into accessible insights Partnership-driven solution pathways, supporting governments, NGOs, and communities to move from awareness to implementation By connecting learning, evidence, and action, Essential Need helps decision-makers and the next generation work together toward and help achieve SDG 6.1.
