Essential Somatics

Essential Somatics teaches Clinical Somatic Education in the style of Thomas Hanna. Clinical Somatic Education is a safe, simple, scientific approach to improve overall sensory motor function and prevent common musculoskeletal pain conditions. This method is a strong complement to standard medical care and is the only scientifically-based sensory motor training that teaches you how and why muscle tension develops and what you can do about it. Through simple, gentle techniques, a full-body approach, and active participation by the client, this neuromuscular re-education gets to the root of most underlying causes of muscle pain and tension resulting in increased movement and flexibility, less discomfort and pain, improved recovery from injuries, and lifelong tools to empower you to care for yourself. The teachings of Clinical Somatic Education have helped thousands of people worldwide to return to a more vibrant life of movement, self-agency, and awareness. At Essential Somatics, we are dedicated to educating those whose goal is to reclaim their freedom of movement and live a life of self-awareness, firmly empowered in the present. Essential Somatics is one of only a few schools offering in-person training for hands-on clinical sessions, a hugely important aspect of this work.
