European Alcohol Policy Alliance - Eurocare

Eurocare is an alliance of non-governmental public health and social organisations working on the prevention and reduction of alcohol related harm in Europe. Eurocare was formed in 1990 by 9 organisations concerned with the impact of the European Union on Alcohol Policy in Member States. It now has more than 50 member organisations across Europe, most of which are national or supranational umbrella organisations. The organisation has a Secretariat in Brussels, which acts as the central contact point for member organisations as well as other bodies concerned with alcohol related issues, including national and international press. Eurocare and all members are not affiliated and does not receive any funding from the alcohol industry or any of its social aspect organisations. The overall goal for Eurocare is to- Raise awareness among European, national and regional decision makers of the harms caused by alcohol (social, health and economic burden) ensuring that these are taken into consideration in all relevant EU policy discussions - Promote the development and implementation of evidence-based policies aimed at effectively preventing and reducing this burden
