European Youth Parliament Serbia

European Youth Parliament (EYP) Serbia is an independent youth NGO established in Belgrade, Serbia in 2006. We represent one of the 41 National Committees of the EYP network. Our aim is to initiate and facilitate discussion about the major challenges in the society and to propose solutions to them. Main idea is to get young people to actively participate and engage into the decision making process. Headquarters of the organisation is based in Belgrade, in addition to this, there are 3 Local Committees in the country, they are established in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš. EYP Serbia is a member of the Serbian youth umbrella organization (KOMS). Our flagship project is the annual National Selection Conference which gathers around 100 young people from Serbia and abroad. Here, young people gather for a 4 day conference where they discuss various problems in the field of culture and education, economy and monetary affairs, civil liberties, international relations, legal affairs etc. Participants are divided into working groups - committees where each committee is chaired by one or two peer educators and has around 10-12 delegates. Each of the committees has a task to provide an answer to one of the specific problems phrased in a committee topic (each topic responds to one of the areas listed above). Among other projects, we are particularly proud on our programme of Regional EYP Serbia sessions. Here, we organise workshops in different cities across Serbia trying to help youth to actively engage in solving problems in their local communities. Following the similar format, these events gather Serbian youth, as well as foreign participants, for a three-day conference, in one of our three Regional Office cities - Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš. Besides these, as of recent, major focus has been put on outreach and inclusion of smaller regions. With that, we have started organising Outreach Weekends, focused on youth from regions far from our Regional Offices.
