On 25th May 2018, the new EU General Data Protection Regulation will take effect, which marks a milestone in data protection laws throughout the European Union. The new Regulation with repeal the current legislation and will be relevant to all European Member States. The UK has undertaken to abide by the new Regulation and therefore, EU-GDPR 2016/679 will replace DPA 1998, currently in effect in the UK, regardless of Brexit.
