Faceless Arts

Faceless Arts was a Wakefield based collective of artists and producers, working nationally and internationally at the leading edge of outdoor community arts practice often with communities less well served. They uplifted people by inspiring them to access their artistic abilities to celebrate who they are and expand their horizons. Bev Adams, Artistic Director and founder of Faceless Arts, said: ‘It has been a real privilege to work with so many talented artists over the years, to travel to unique places, hear fascinating stories and get creative with wonderful people. This work would not have been possible without the skill and determination of our core creative team, Tony Wade (Creative Director) and Charlie Wells (Creative Producer – Community Engagement) as well as the support of other members of staff, many freelancers and a dedicated board of trustees. Whilst it feels strange to be saying goodbye to Faceless Arts after all these years, we know the impacts of our work will remain tangible. We loved bringing people from all walks of life together to create great art and we take with us some very fond memories. For example, a 100 year old lady beaming as she proudly posed for a photo with the first painting she’d made since primary school. Another heart-warming story is of a selective mute speaking for the first time to say a line I had given her in an outdoor show. Charlie, Tony and I remain committed to using the arts to bring people together and, once we have all had a break, we hope to find new ways of doing this together in the future.’
