Faces Up Uganda

In Uganda, many young people from underserved communities face psychosocial challenges such as isolation, trauma, low self-esteem, and negative self-perception. These stem from the economic hardships, weak social support networks and exposure to violence and abuse affecting their educational and overall life attainment. Faces Up employs a threefold model: 1) Art as Therapy – Offer and train educators to use arts education in supporting young people’s social, emotional, and learning needs. 2) Artpreneurship – Teach creative skills, offer mentorship, and provide access to markets both locally and globally, enabling young people to earn from their creativity to fund their education and livelihoods. 3) Design for Change – Equip young people with design thinking skills to develop innovations that address pressing economic and environmental challenges in their communities, empowering them to lead change and invest in child-led ideas.
