Families and Children Together (FACT) is a nonprofit with the mission to strengthen families and prevent unnecessary entry into the child welfare system. FACT partners with MDHHS and community organizations across Genesee and Saginaw Counties to build a full continuum of prevention and family support services that are rooted in community. FACT’s model wraps community services around children and caregivers before crisis leads to separation. This approach addresses unmet needs quickly, applies prevention resources early, and ensures families receive support that is respectful and culturally appropriate. Our Goals - Prevent the need for families to enter child welfare- Transform the experience for families who do. Our Approach - Coordinate family support before system entry by working closely with churches, schools, medical providers, and local organizations- Nurture culturally relevant services that treat families with dignity and respect- Normalize the experience for families in care, reframing foster care as temporary support rather than punishment. Our Impact - More families are staying safely together- Fewer children removed due to poverty being misidentified as neglect- Stronger, data-driven outcomes tracked across key performance indicators and over time.
