The climate crisis, rise of unexpected health challenges, and endangering of various life forms, are directly linked to food systems. The practices and behavior of the world today towards the food systems, pose a threat not just to human beings, but also to the environment and other life forms on this planet. Agriculture and land use are responsible for close to one third of total global greenhouse gas emissions, accelerating the climate crisis. Many of the human illnesses like neurodegenerative, cancer, and hormonal disorders are linked to deleterious processes in the food systems. We are to be blamed here. Our lack of awareness, and disconnect with the system has led us here. The question is what do we do as an individual? We believe the solution lies in the community with different stakeholders who can come together to change the narrative. It is important to understand that it is our problem - a threat to our existence and we don’t have indefinite time to correct them. Increased community participation and awareness at large can make a great impact and make everyone a part of the solution. FaFaFo Project was initiated with this thought. At FaFaFo, we want to nudge people (especially Urban communities) to be aware, be better informed about food, food producers (Farmers) and the processes (Farming), to reestablish the lost connection. We want to do this through education, experiential learning, and conversations. We envision a community reconnected to food, farmers and farming, in turn influencing sustainable behavioral changes, that can drive impact both bottom up and top down, thus contributing to the larger mission of a healthy and sustainable planet.
