Fair Fabrics
Fair Fabrics creates meaningful connections between contemporary designers and skilled artisanal studios across North Africa. Led by cultural curator and craft development expert Karin Kandt, we facilitate collaborations that allow designers to work directly with makers in their own environments and to experience the depth of local craftsmanship firsthand. Our approach goes beyond matchmaking. We guide every step of the collaborative journey, from cultural orientation and on-site visits to concept development, material exploration and production. Designers are welcomed into the workshops, meet the artisans who shape their ideas and engage in an exchange that feels like a guided residency rooted in respect and shared authorship. At Fair Fabrics we believe that equal collaboration leads to stronger stories, richer design and objects that carry both cultural meaning and contemporary relevance. We make it possible for designers and curators to work with artisans in a way that is intentional, transparent and deeply connected to place.
