Fairtrade Towns

Fairtrade Towns is a global campaign that originated from the UK. It seeks to turn local communities into fairtrade communities by convincing local officials to implement fairtrade in their policies, local companies and supermarkets to sell fairtrade products and to raise awareness among local civilians about fairtrade. There are already over 700 fairtrade towns and the campaign is active in 18 countries worldwide. These local initiatives contribute towards the UN Millennium Goals #1 (end hunger and poverty) and #8 (increase fair international trade).
