Farhad Humayun Foundation

The Farhad Humayun Foundation (FHF) established by his family in Lahore in 2023 is a non-profit organization that fully affirms the late musician’s belief that a life enriched by music and the arts helps build strategies for good living. The Foundation believes that such a life promises rich rewards in terms of historical, cultural and socio-economic sustainability. The Foundation’s activities focus actively on the pressing need for preservation of heritage giving equal importance to historic memory and archiving, paralleled by an emphasis on the critical issue of sustainability. The FHF vision, therefore, incorporates the belief that to be sustainable is to be regenerative. In the public sphere, the Foundation has begun its journey operating under the following division: • Experimental Sound Archiving Farhad’s complexity as singer, songwriter, performer, showman, sound artist, producer, video and art director, painter, entrepreneur and quiet philanthropist demands that any critical engagement with his work must be interdisciplinary in nature. Using his vast body of work as a springboard, FHF will be designing and curating ambitious, collaborative projects across the arts, especially in sound practice. The Foundation’s projects are planned on an experimental archive model, employing multiple strategies such as exhibition, performance, radio, print, film etc. The Farhad Humayun Foundation’s vision: To support students in the Humanities and the Arts with grants and scholarships to continue this journey.
