Adoption of Aluminum-Scandium (AlSc) alloys has been limited to-date by the high cost of making the alloy which requires both expensive raw materials and complicated manufacturing processes. For this reason, the current market for AlSc is negligible while the annual aluminum market is ~60 million metric tons. FEA Materials has developed an AlSc alloy manufacturing process that will accelerate industrial adoption of AlSc alloys. Raw material for the FEAM process is the readily-available Scandium Oxide.
