Federal Road Safety Corps

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) is Nigeria's lead agency for road safety administration and management, established in 1988 to eradicate road traffic crashes and foster a safe motoring environment. Our mission is to regulate, enforce, and coordinate road traffic safety through sustained public enlightenment, stakeholder cooperation, robust data management, improved vehicle administration, prompt rescue services, and effective patrol operations. We are a federal law enforcement agency responsible for making highways safe for all road users. Key functions include enforcing traffic rules, providing rescue services and roadside clinics for accident victims, conducting research into crash causes, and regulating vehicle speed, the use of seatbelts, and mobile phones by drivers. Additionally, we are responsible for designing and producing driver's licenses and vehicle number plates. Our commitment to safeguarding every life on Nigeria's roads has driven us to innovate and continuously improve our operations in compliance with the FRSC (Establishment) Act, 2007. Through initiatives like our nationwide network of dedicated Special Marshals and our road safety education campaigns in schools, we are working to instill a culture of road discipline. As the first African road traffic management agency to achieve ISO 9001 certification, we are dedicated to setting and elevating road safety standards.
