Femcoders Initiative

Femcoders is a dynamic, female-led initiative based in Cotonou, Benin, dedicated to bridging the gender gap in STEM education. Under the Rachael Orumor NGO, the organization empowers young girls and women by providing free after-school programs that introduce them to the world of robotics, coding, and digital technologies. Since its inception, Femcoders has made significant strides in promoting STEM education among underserved communities. The organization has trained over 700 students, distributed several robotics kits, and established robotics clubs in public schools across Benin. In 2019, Femcoders co-hosted the country's first national robotics competition, further solidifying its commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Femcoders also plays a pivotal role in the FIRST Global Challenge, an international robotics competition. In 2017, Team Benin, mentored by Femcoders, achieved remarkable success by ranking 7th out of 163 countries and 1st in Africa. Through its programs, Femcoders aims to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of female leaders in STEM, contributing to a more inclusive and innovative future.
