Femme Rock

We’re a music school and community in Austin, Texas with a punk rock attitude. We provide safe spaces for women and non-binary adults age 21+ to learn and play music at any experience level. The “safe space” piece is REALLY important for us because women and non-binary folks don’t always feel safe in spaces that are typically and primarily dominated by cis men, especially when they’re first learning an instrument or trying to get better. Band classes are our most popular offering, giving students a chance to join a band, make new friends, and play on stage. Band classes meet at the Femme Rock rehearsal space for an hour and a half once a week, for 8 weeks. We’ll go over the structure of the songs, provide you with resources to learn each part, then teach you how to put it all together with your fellow bandmates. At the end of the 8 weeks, you’ll know how to play 3-4 songs with your band and perform them on stage. Our most recent showcase was at Kick Butt Coffee in Austin and all the bands were absolutely incredible! We also offer instruction for songwriting, bass, guitar, drums, and vocals. The rehearsal rooms are also available to rent if you already have an established band in Austin that needs a place to jam (but keep in mind this is a sacred femme space and we will prioritize women and queer-heavy bands). 🥁 If you’re interested in gaining confidence and exploring your natural talents while connecting with other talented musicians in Austin, please check us out at: femmerock.com 🤘All experience levels welcome, punk-rock attitude encouraged.
