The Freedom by Inner Calm Foundation (FICF) was set up in 2015 with the intention of reducing the suffering of those with mental health conditions, as well as their family, friends and carers. FICF is a charitable organisation. As such we are supported by donations. We acknowledge that each of us has a unique brain, full of boundless opportunities, but which equally at times can challenge us, or even cause significant pain, to the detriment of our ability to live our lives. FICF strives to empower each individual to manage their mind, so that they can find internal calm and peace. We believe that there are a range of ways to achieve this, and stay open to a myriad of possible measures. One of our commitments is to recognise the benefit of supporting the mind through the body, as well as encouraging everyone to support and connect with one another. We recognise that there are a number of conditions diagnosed by medical practitioners, each of which has its own causes and symptoms. We also recognise that mental anguish can exist without a specific medical diagnosis. It is the belief of FICF that mental suffering should be treated equally, as a calm and peaceful inner being is a universal right. We acknowledge that to achieve our aims we must also engage with broader society, and encourage positive treatment of all mental health conditions. We intend to promote an active dialogue across community groups, as well as in the legal structures of our country, and the availability of medical treatment. We also wish to work with employers to help support the wellbeing of their employees. Currently we operate through our website, which is a resource for all of our intended beneficiaries. It includes advice from working professionals (as well as our dedicated volunteers), personal stories (blogs and interviews), links to other relevant organisations, and our twitter feed. We also intend to run events and training. It is our ultimate goal to operate a retreat, which would allow us a better opportunity to directly impact our beneficiaries. Be brave. Be bold.
