Fiesta4hope

Fiesta4Hope is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization founded in 2018. We provide support to vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters, poverty, inequality, and food insecurity. We are partnered with Centro PASO, Inc. in Aibonito Puerto Rico, a community center that addresses issues faced by its local population. Fiesta4Hope aids Centro PASO by assisting them in their initiative to grow more sustainably functioning. Through the Pillars of Awareness, Fundraising, and Empowerment, Fiesta4Hope brings together our community in the continent United States to support Centro PASO: Our pillar 'Awareness' focuses on educating our peers about the issues faced by Aibonito. Our associated students and interns produce mini-research projects about climate change, food insecurity, sustainability, natural disasters, etc. which are available on our website. Through the pillar 'Fundraising' we have been able to 1) help PASO establish private spaces where they now respectfully assist locals in dealing with their sensitive experiences with poverty, 2) help PASO acquire updated computers, which they use to connect locals to broader avenues of assistance, apply to grants, and keep better track of those they assist, and 3) oversee the installation and funding of a solar power system on Centro PASO, which will allow them to continue functioning after Hurricanes and other extreme weather when Puerto Rico's central grid fails. Finally, the pillar 'Empowerment' relates to our work with high school and undergraduate students. The work of Fiesta4Hope is done entirely by students between high school freshman and college seniors. Fiesta provides invaluable learning and leadership opportunities to students in the areas of nonprofit management, humanitarianism, writing, communication, social media marketing. Our goal is to empower students in the belief that not only do they possess professional skills, but that they can use these to do good in the world.
