It can be divided into two main types namely, automatic fire suppression systems and manual fire suppression systems. The first automatically detects potential hazards and activates while the second requires human intervention to put out a fire. Generally, fire suppression systems are used with heavy machinery. When a problem or potential risk is identified, dry chemicals, wet agents or a combination of both are used to suppress the fire and, accordingly, minimise damage.
