FirstPoint is a social work-led and employee owned social enterprise. We established ourselves as a community interest company because we wanted to reinvest our ‘profits’ back into the community. We provide a range of high quality specialist services to D/deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people. Hearing loss affects over 10 million people in the UK. As our society ages, this number is set to grow to 14.5 million by 2030 (Action on Hearing Loss, 2011). FirstPoint engages with a wide range of D/deaf, deafblind, deafened and hard of hearing people in order to meet their needs. Our company is guided by feedback from the community and other interest groups. We work closely with Surrey Deaf Forum, Surrey Hard of Hearing Forum, and every year we host a FirstPoint Community Forum.
