Fitzees

FitZees seeks to create a healthy generation of students by empowering them through exercise. Using an innovative approach to physical activity we use exercise to improve student's academic performance and health while giving them the confidence to pursue their biggest aspirations. It is our way of helping to solve the childhood obesity epidemic and reduce the health care costs associated with treating it. FitZees seeks to help all students in their fight against childhood obesity but we focus most intensely on the communities most affected by the epidemic: low income and minority youth. We do so in five separate ways: 1. We run after school fitness programs that incorporate strength and circuit training, dance and martial arts as a fun way to get students moving. We help school districts expand their physical education offerings and make them more inclusive and effective. We consult school districts on how to integrate exercise and nutrition into their broader curriculum and bringer healthier menu options to the cafeteria and the classroom. We work with medical providers, community organizations and local businesses to expand opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating outside of school. We work with legislators to create economic incentives for living a healthy and active life. We are currently running programming in Providence, RI based out of Brown University and will be expanding to Westchester, Country this year.
