Over the next decade, as part of the greatest expansion of access to education in human history, more than one billion people will have the opportunity to become the first generation in their families to go to college. Most of these people live in the fast-growing, fast-changing, emerging economies of Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Our mission is to ensure that higher education systems in emerging economies enable their citizens to succeed and prosper. A higher education system for emerging economies must work differently, helping students to learn more efficiently, providing workplace experience and life-preparation as well as student guidance, and operating with unprecedented productivity and efficiency. At fiveDlearning, we increase the productivity of college-wide teaching, learning, and assessment, while reducing facilities and operating costs. We integrate social and emotional learnings required for student success before, during, and after graduation, and build effective placement relationships with local, national, and international employers. We recruit, train, and retrain teachers and administrators to succeed with the new model. We can also operate and even create the college(s), if needed, while these transformations are underway. Our work is performed collaboratively by the professionals in our 10 multidisciplinary practices: Accessibility & User Experience; Assessment & Institutional Research; Campus Facilities and Operations; Curricular and Instructional Design; Information and Communications Technologies; Information Science;(Cognitive, Social, and Affective) Learning Science; Professional Development; Student Success and Residential Life. Practice-members soon will be sited at our state-of-the-art Applied Research Center, presently under construction in metro Philadelphia. Practice-members observe, research, participate in, and even co-lead classes and professional development seminars around the globe.
